This "super fiber" is used for special applications such as bullet-proof clothing, sails, cordages; turns out to be 2 times more resistant than theref = "https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevlar" title = "Kevlar">kevlarand 15 times more than steelat the same weight. Represents the lightest and most durable material on the market. Although it is a linear polymer, its degree of crystallinity is not high (45-60%), and may even be lower than that of LDPE (50-60%). The reason lies in the fact that UHMWPE in the fluid state is extremely viscous, and this limits its ability to arrange itself in an orderly manner, and therefore crystallinity. It also presents photosensitivity, and this must be taken into account when storing the material.
The fiber anti-cut polyethylene allows you to dare more. It is used in a wide range of garments, accessories and devices to make them safer and more resistant to cuts. It is light, durable and incredibly strong. Best known for use in ballistics and in anti-cut vests like bulletproof.
It is used, however, also on the ski slopes, in winding mountain paths, insidious desert lands and even in space.
