Duct Tape (Cloth Tapes)

Cloth-backed duct tape, also known as cloth tape or duct tape, combines a reinforced fabric carrier with a high-tack adhesive. It is designed for quickly repairing, fixing and reinforcing compatible materials, with width, length and construction chosen for the job.

This category includes four options: standard tapes, extra-strong versions and a multi-purpose camouflage solution. Features can vary from one product to another, so always check the technical sheet and the selected combination before ordering.

Which tape should you choose?

Product Main characteristics When to choose it
EXTRA-STRONG coloured plastified cloth duct tape (ID 29) Coloured and plastified version, supplied as 4 rolls. For repairs and reinforcement when multiple rolls and colour coding are useful.
Standard cloth duct tape 25/50 m (ID 42) 25 or 50 m format; 4 colours overall, with orange unavailable in the 50 m length. For general repairs, fixing and maintenance with a choice of length and colour.
EXTRA-STRONG cloth duct tape 38 mm × 25 m (ID 611) One 38 mm × 25 m roll, available in 4 selectable colours. For repairs and reinforcement that call for an EXTRA-STRONG 38 mm format.
Multi-purpose camouflage cloth tape (ID 1185) Multi-purpose cloth tape with a camouflage pattern, military-derived. For multi-purpose jobs where the camouflage finish is part of the choice.

Common applications

  • Quick repairs, temporary fixing and reinforcement of compatible materials.
  • Packaging, maintenance, construction, HVAC, automotive, camping and events.
  • Coding or camouflage when colour and finish matter.

Duct tape and gaffer tape: the difference

Duct tape and gaffer tape are not synonyms. Duct tape is mainly intended for repair, fixing and reinforcement; gaffer tape is designed for staging, events and production work, where cleaner removal and a less reflective finish may matter. Choose according to the surface, the required duration and the desired result.

Water resistance and outdoor use

A water-resistant film or adhesive does not mean that every tape is permanently waterproof. For outdoor use, check the individual product sheet for water, UV and temperature resistance and for the expected exposure. For specifically waterproof sealing, also consider the waterproof repair tapes category.

How to choose

  • Select width and length according to the surface and the amount of work.
  • Choose standard or EXTRA-STRONG according to the required reinforcement level.
  • Always check substrate compatibility, conditions of use and variant data.

Frequently asked questions

Is duct tape waterproof?
Not always: water resistance depends on the product and the application and does not automatically mean permanent waterproofing.

Can I use cloth tape outdoors?
Only when the technical sheet indicates suitable resistance for the expected exposure. Prepare and clean the surface before application.

Which tape should I choose for HVAC?
Duct tape may help with temporary fixing or repairs; for technical or permanent sealing, use a product expressly specified for that application.
