How to choose floor insulation

To reduce the transmission of impact sound, it is important to choose a material compatible with the floor structure and with the layers to be installed above and below it.

  • Under screed: check that the product is intended for use as a resilient layer in the chosen build-up.
  • Under flooring: check compatibility with the type of floor covering and with any radiant systems.
  • Thickness and loads: compare the compressive strength and mechanical properties declared by the manufacturer.

Installation methods can vary significantly from one material to another: always follow the product technical data sheet and the guidance specified for the construction system used.
