- Soft and flexible, adapts to rough and misaligned surfaces. Suitable for sealing in the presence of chemicals, hydrocarbons, acids, and steam.
- High-quality professional product; technical data sheet available upon request.
The flat gasket is made of 100% pure PTFE, processed through a special manufacturing method into a fibrous molecular structure. The result is a product with unique combinations of properties:
• High plastic deformability with reduced cold flow; ideal for creating even complex seals in a very short time on any surface. In fact, Ocean, under applied pressure, transforms into a thin tape that fills all the micro-cavities that may be present on the sealing surfaces (see table).
• Resistant to all chemical compounds except certain fluorinated products and molten alkali metals.
• Does not contaminate the products it comes into contact with, does not release particles or dyes, and is non-toxic. • Our exclusive engineering service allows us to offer customers a customized study for specific applications, producing the Ocean strip with densities and dimensions different from those listed in the catalog.
Adhesive expanded PTFE gasket tape for flanges, hatches and uneven seats
Flat sealing tape in expanded PTFE with positioning adhesive: it conforms to micro-voids, compensates misalignment and delivers a reliable seal even on rough or imperfect surfaces. Built for fast assembly, clean interfaces and robust chemical performance.
Why choose it (no fluff)
- Ready-to-seal: flows under load to fill surface imperfections.
- Fewer reworks: no need to custom-cut flat gaskets for every diameter.
- Consistent results across a wide range of media/processes (see chemical compatibility in data sheet).
- Clean install: adhesive holds the strip in place; tighten with controlled torque and you’re done.
Typical applications
- Flanges & access doors on equipment, compensators, inspection windows and manways.
- Machine housings and sealing seats that are not perfectly machined.
- Chemical, food & pharma, utilities where inertness and cleanliness matter.
Installation (step-by-step)
- Prepare the surface: clean, dry, degreased (no waxes/silicones). Adhesive is for positioning only, not sealing.
- Lay the tape along the seating face: avoid stretching; follow curves naturally.
- End joint: make a 45° scarf cut or staggered joint to avoid weak points. No steps or gaps.
- Tighten: torque bolts in a star pattern in multiple passes up to your plant standard.
- Check: after the first thermal cycle or first hours in service, verify torque and re-set if needed.
Smart sizing
- Width: cover the seating area without intruding into the bore. On raised faces, stay inside the bolt circle.
- Thickness: rougher seats → more elastic travel; precise seats → thinner sections.
- Lengths & rolls: on large diameters allow extra for the joint (2–3% of circumference).
Compatibility & honest limits
- Chemical: PTFE offers broad compatibility; always verify the specific agent in the data sheet.
- Service: designed for static joints. Do not use on dynamic seals with continuous rubbing.
- Critical surfaces: PP/PE, silicone, virgin PTFE or very low-surface-energy coatings may reduce positioning adhesion.
- Temperature/pressure: follow product data sheet limits and your real installation conditions.
Good practice
- Do not stretch the tape during lay-up: keep nominal thickness for correct compression.
- Avoid joints at bolt holes or mechanical discontinuities.
- Storage: dry place, away from UV/heat. Keep clean offcuts for micro-repairs.
Quality & compliance
Materials and adhesive comply with the standards listed in the technical data sheet. Suitability for demanding services and process contact to be verified against the product certifications provided (documentation available on request).
Note: sizes, packaging, T/P limits and certifications are shown in the product page and technical sheet.
