Carbon Fiber Fabrics
Carbon Fiber Fabrics for Lamination
Carbon fiber fabrics are high-performance technical materials for composite laminates and components. They combine high mechanical strength, stiffness and low weight, and are used in automotive, marine, sports, model making and industrial design.
Available formats and specifications
- Weaves: 2×2 Twill and Plain weave (1×1)
- Grammages: 190–240 g/m² in the current range
- Width: most fabrics are supplied in a 100 cm width; the 12K unidirectional fabric is also available in narrower formats, depending on the selected variant
- Cutting: sold by the metre or as a full roll
- Fibres: 3K and other variants, as specified on the individual product page
The range includes 3K Twill, 3K Plain, 12K UD/unidirectional carbon fabric, 3K carbon–aramid hybrids and 3K hexagonal carbon fabric. Check each product page for the exact construction. The fabrics can be used with epoxy resins (recommended for performance), vinylester and polyester. As a preliminary reference, resin consumption can be estimated indicatively at around 1.1–1.3× the fabric weight; the actual value depends on the fabric, lamination process, compaction and resin system.
Which weave should you choose?
| Variant | Characteristics and typical applications |
|---|---|
| 2×2 Twill | Very good drape on curves, with a technical and elegant appearance; typically used for bodywork, visible parts and double-curved surfaces. |
| Plain 1×1 | Good on simpler surfaces, with a uniform and clean appearance; suitable for panels, plates, reinforcements and structural laminates. |
| 12K UD / unidirectional | Fibres are aligned mainly in one direction and are suitable when the reinforcement direction is defined by the design; check the selected cut and length variant. |
| Carbon–aramid hybrids | Combined carbon and aramid construction available in specific product sheets; check the product page for the exact appearance, parameters and process guidance. |
Compatible processes
- Hand lay-up with rolling and degassing
- Vacuum bagging for an improved fibre-to-resin ratio
- Infusion with suitable moulds and specific consumables
For optimum results, we recommend quality epoxy resins and suitable consumables such as peel ply, release film and absorbent breather. Discover our epoxy resins and additives.
Hybrid fabrics and advanced solutions
For impact-resistance or design requirements, carbon–aramid hybrid fabrics are available in specific red, green and blue variants. Always check the technical data sheet for mechanical parameters and processing guidance.
Buying, discounts and shipping
We offer quantity discounts for professionals and makers, together with fast shipping. Each product page shows the grammage, weave, width and cutting method: select the required length or consider a full roll to optimise costs.
Note: the information above is general. Always follow the product-page specifications and the resin manufacturer’s instructions for mixing, curing times and conditions.
