How to choose insulation for ceilings and lofts

The solution varies according to the position of the insulation, the existing structure and the use of the room below or of the loft.

Lofts: assess accessibility, available thickness and roof ventilation conditions.
Ceilings and suspended ceilings: consider the supporting structure, available space and the thermal or acoustic objective.
Materials: compare thermal conductivity, density, fire behaviour and other declared performance.

Any membranes, vapour-management systems, fixings and installation methods must be defined according to the specific build-up and the manufacturer's guidance.
