When artificial grass is laid in several pieces, the edges have to be joined from underneath: otherwise, over time they drift apart, lift up and the line between one piece and the next becomes visible. This tape is laid under the seam with the adhesive facing up. The two edges rest on top, stick to the tape and stay butted together. The result is a single lawn, with a seam you won't notice.
First check that both pieces have the pile running in the same direction, otherwise the joint will show. Butt the edges together without overlapping them, then fold them back by about twenty centimetres. Lay the tape on the ground exactly under the seam line, with the green fabric facing down and the white liner facing up. The liner is split into two halves: peel off the first, lay the first piece back down and press firmly along the whole edge; then peel off the second half and do the same with the other piece, keeping the edges touching. Finally, walk along the seam to press it down and brush the grass fibres so they don't get trapped in the adhesive. The adhesive holds best on a clean, dry surface, on a day without rain.
The tape holds the pieces together, but it does not glue them to the floor. Underneath there is a green non-woven fabric with no adhesive, which grips and helps the tape stay in place. To fix artificial grass to soil, pegs are used; on concrete, terraces and balconies, if the lawn has to stay put, you need an outdoor double-sided tape or a specific adhesive.
Each roll is 15 cm wide and 5 metres long: enough for a seam up to 5 metres long or for several short seams, such as offcuts around a flower bed or a path, and it cuts to size with scissors. The tape is made of green non-woven fabric with an adhesive layer and a protective liner; the manufacturer states an adhesion strength of more than 4 kg per inch of width. The green blends in with the grass even where the tape remains visible.
Is it double-sided tape for artificial grass? Many people search for it that way, but the adhesive is on one side only, the side facing the grass: it joins the pieces together, it does not glue them to the ground.
Do I need glue? No: the adhesive is already on the tape and grips when pressed. Glue is used with neutral joining strips, which are not adhesive.
Can it be used outdoors? Yes, it is made for gardens, terraces and balconies and works underneath the lawn, sheltered from direct sun.
How many rolls do I need? One for every 5 metres of seam. If the seam is longer, lay two pieces one after the other, butted closely together.
What is in the pack? One roll of artificial grass joining tape, 15 cm x 5 m.
