Magnetic C-channel label holders, also called writable magnetic labels, are strips of magnetic rubber with two lips that form a channel. You slide a white card into the channel, where you write or print your code, together with a clear PVC cover that protects it from dust. The magnet holds the label on any iron or steel surface: shelves, cabinets, drawers, containers and whiteboards. The magnetic profile is made in Italy, from 1.2 mm magnetic rubber.
Label, move, relabel, without glue
When goods change place, you move the label by hand. No stickers to peel off, no glue residue to scrape and nothing to reprint: slide out the card, write the new code and put it back, or use the back of the card. The shelf stays clean and the paint is not damaged, so even used shelving keeps its value.
From small shops to large warehouses
In a shop or hardware store they show names and prices on metal shelves: when the price changes you change the card, not the label. In offices they are used on filing cabinets, metal cupboards, drawer units and changing-room lockers. In workshops and labs they organise tool trolleys, spare-parts cabinets and material shelves. In warehouses they carry location codes and barcodes on light shelving and metal drawer cabinets, and when you reorganise the space the labels are moved instead of thrown away. They are also suitable for cold rooms and cold environments, where the glue of adhesive labels dries out and comes off. At school, in the gym and at home they work on magnetic whiteboards, notice boards, fridges and lockers.
How to use them
Write on the card by hand or print it; if you work with barcodes you can also stick an adhesive label on it. Slide the card into the C channel and put the clear cover in front of it. Then place the label on the metal surface: it sticks by itself. If you need it shorter, the profile can be cut with ordinary scissors.
Which size to choose
The 25 x 75 mm size is for short codes and names, for narrow shelf profiles and for drawers. The 40 x 100 mm size has room for a description with a barcode and is easier to read from a distance, which is why it is the most used on warehouse shelving and cabinets. Both are available in packs of 20, 50 and 100 pieces.
Do they work on stainless steel?
It depends on the type of stainless steel. Many stainless steels, for example the common AISI 304, are not magnetic and the magnet does not stick. Test first with any magnet: if the magnet holds, the label will hold too. They do not work on aluminium, wood or plastic.
Can they be read by a barcode scanner?
Yes. Print the code on paper or on an adhesive label and put it on the card: the clear PVC cover lets the scanner read the code.
Does the magnet lose strength over time?
No, the magnetisation is permanent and does not wear out with use. If the label is moved many times, just keep the surface you place it on clean.
